Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has Twitter in a spin after missing an open goal

RAHEEM STERLING is having the most prolific season of his career at Manchester City, with many of his goals deciding the outcome of matches.

However, an extraordinary miss by Sterling proved the turning point in City's clash with Burnley as the Clarets recovered to snatch a 1-1 draw against runaway lead leaders City at Turf Moor.

Kyle Walker made a great run down the right flank and Kevin de Bruyne found him with a perfectly weighted pass.

Walker then crossed the ball along the ground in the six yard box, where Sterling was waiting at the back post to make it 2-0.

But somehow he missed a chanced which looked easier to score.

Directly after missing the sitter, Sterling was seen to be visibly livid with himself.

Though, Pep Guardiola backed the England international to recover from the mistake.

Speaking after the game, he said: “It was not for that reason“It is football.

“The next day he is going to score. Today he missed one chance. That is football. That can happen.

“The next day you focus on the next one (chance).”

However, Twitter was not in such a forgiving mood.
